MR JUSTICE SUPPERSTONE: 1. The applicant seeks an extension of the interim suspension order made on 8 March 2011 under Article 31(8) of the Nursing and Midwifery Order 2001 for a period of four months from 7 September 2012. The respondent does not attend today's hearing but has had notice of this application. 2. Having read the witness statement dated 30 July 2012 of Rudo Dhliwayo, a case officer in the Fitness to Practise Directorate of the Nursing and Midwifery Council who has the conduct of this case, and having read the exhibits attached thereto, I am satisfied that the interim suspension order should be extended to 4pm on 6 January 2013 on the grounds that it is necessary for the protection of the public and is otherwise in the public interest. The respondent has permission, on giving three days' written notice to the applicant, to apply to the court to vary or discharge this order. 3. There will be no order for costs.
